Beliefs and Practices of the Rich and Famous

The rich and famous are people, too, and they wonder about the meaning of life just like everyone else. Most celebrities possess everything that is traditionally thought to bring happiness — beauty, success, money, power — yet many find themselves asking, "Is this all?" Celebrities are infamous for gravitating towards some of the more "different" religious paths, yet many have also chosen various traditional organized religions and others have developed a set of beliefs that transcend any one religion.

In the following celebrity spiritual profiles, you can find out what actors, musicians, politicians and other celebrities believe about God, the meaning of life, the afterlife and other religious topics.

Tom Cruise- Scientology's most famous exponent, especially in recent years, Cruise has reportedly reached one of the highest levels in the program ("Operating Thetan VII"). He joined in 1986 when married to then-Scientologist Mimi Rogers, who is no longer a member.

Angelina Jolie- a general spirituality/ eclectic. "There doesn't need to be a God for me. There's something in people that's spiritual, that's godlike. I don't feel like doing things just because people say things, but I also don't really know if it's better to just not believe in anything, either."

Nicole Kidman- The award-winning actress was raised Catholic and has increasingly returned to her religious roots since divorcing Scientologist Tom Cruise. "Catholicism guides me. I certainly have a strong belief. I try to go to church regularly, and I try to go to confession."
